The importance of website page title tags
One of the most important on-page SEO items of any web page is the Title Tag. The text that you place in the title tag is what shows in the blue bar at the very top of your browser. Search engines place a lot of weight on this text. One reason is that it cannot be hidden in an effort to influence a pages ranking, because it is there for all to see. Of course it should tell the viewer what the page is about, but for the search engines, it should contain the most powerful key search words and terms. And more subtley, the words near the beginning are weighted more than the trailling words.
When you do a search and look at the results, you will see that the search engine bolds the words in the title and the description that match your search term.
Deciding what words or terms to put in the title tag takes some research. Quite often, I have discovered that a term that I assumed was searched for a lot, is hardly ever used. A good place to start your keyword research is at www.KeywordDiscovery.com. On that site, you can enter a search term and it will tell you how many times it has been searched, but better than that, it will tell you how many times similar terms have been search. Sometimes the results are surprising.
